# Simplify metric prompt with AI

`POST /test_framework/v3/metrics/simplify_prompt/`

## Request

Rewrite a verbose metric prompt into a minimal version focused on its decision logic. When `metric_id` names an already-optimized metric whose prompt is unchanged, the stored prompt comes back at once. Usually takes under 30 seconds.

## Request body

- SimplifyPromptV3Request
  - `original_prompt` string, required: The verbose prompt to simplify.
  - `metric_id` integer: Metric the prompt belongs to. Optional.

## Response `200`

- object
  - `status` 'completed' | 'failed': `failed` when the job could not produce its result; see `error` / `errors`.
  - `original_prompt` string
  - `metric_id` integer, nullable
  - `simplified_prompt` string
  - `skipped_simplification` boolean: True when the metric was already optimized and the stored prompt is returned.
  - `error` string, nullable: Why the job failed, when it did.

## Other responses

- `400`
- `403`: No access to the agent, project, metric or result the job runs on.
- `504`: The job did not finish within 15 minutes. It may still complete in the background.
