# Save Interests

`POST /api/v1/onboarding/save-interests`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://backend.caspr.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://backend.caspr.ai/api/v1/onboarding/save-interests`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Password

Save the user's research interest selections (Step 2).

When one of the chosen interests is the ``Something else`` row,
``custom_research_text`` must be supplied in the request body and is
persisted on the user.

## Request body

- SaveResearchInterestsRequest
  - `interest_ids` string[], required
  - `custom_research_text` string, nullable: Free-text description the user typed when selecting 'Something else' in the research-interests step. Required only when one of the selected interest_ids maps to the 'something_else' row in research_interests; ignored otherwise.
