# Retrieve transcript text

`POST /media/v1/transcripts/retrieve`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.case.dev`
- URL: `https://api.case.dev/media/v1/transcripts/retrieve`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Retrieves the full transcript text for a vault transcript object or an audio/video source object with a completed transcription job. When object_id is a source media object, access to that source object grants access to its generated transcript artifact.

## Request body

- object
  - `vault_id` string, required: Vault ID containing the source media or transcript object.
  - `object_id` string, required: Object ID for either the source audio/video file or transcript artifact.
  - `transcript` object: Alternative nested transcript object reference.
    - `vault_id` string
    - `object_id` string

## Response `200`

Transcript text retrieved successfully

  - `text` string, required: Full transcript text.
  - `vault_id` string, required
  - `object_id` string, required: Requested object ID.
  - `source_object_id` string: Source media object ID when known.
  - `transcript_object_id` string: Transcript object ID when known.
  - `transcription_job_id` string: Transcription job ID when known.
  - `filename` string
  - `word_count` integer
  - `confidence` integer
  - `audio_duration` integer

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing parameters or object is not transcript media.
- `401`: Invalid API key.
- `403`: API key lacks vault access or object scope.
- `404`: Vault, object, or completed transcript not found.
- `409`: Transcript exists but is still processing.
