# Fetch one remote file

`POST /connectors/v1/fetch`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.case.dev`
- URL: `https://api.case.dev/connectors/v1/fetch`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Copy one provider file, named by an open_ref from browse, into a Vault (vault_id) or to a presigned S3 PUT URL (upload_url). Runs synchronously; files over 100 MB return 413 and belong in a transfer. A repeat for an unchanged provider version returns the first copy with 200. Vault copies are stored as uploaded: call POST /vault/{id}/ingest/{objectId} to index them. Fetched copies are never exported by a link.

  - `open_ref` string, required: From a browse item, exactly as received
  - `vault_id` string: Destination Vault. Exactly one destination.
  - `upload_url` string: Presigned HTTPS S3 PUT URL. Content-Type must not be a signed header. Exactly one destination.

## Response `200`

An earlier copy of this provider version, returned without downloading

## Other responses

- `201`: File copied
- `400`: Missing open_ref, or not exactly one valid destination
- `401`: Invalid API key
- `403`: Insufficient permissions, Vault not granted, or connector disabled
- `404`: open_ref, connection, Vault or file not found
- `409`: Connection needs reauthorization, or fetch_in_progress
- `413`: fetch_too_large: over 100 MB
- `422`: fetch_not_supported or fetch_unsupported_item
- `429`: Provider request budget exhausted; Retry-After when known
- `502`: provider_error or upload_url_rejected
