# Update a transaction label

`PATCH /v1/transaction_labels/{transaction_label_id}`

## Request

Updates a transaction label's `label` and/or `color`. The caller must be a member of the
label's company. Returns the updated label.

- `transaction_label_id` string, uuid, required

- `company-id` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- TransactionLabelUpdate: Payload to update a transaction label. All fields are optional; only the provided fields are changed. The caller must be a member of the label's company.

  - `color` string, nullable

- TransactionLabel: A transaction label — a company-scoped tag that can be associated with transactions.
