# Probe Stream

`POST /stream/probe/`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://client.camb.ai/apis`
- URL: `https://client.camb.ai/apis/stream/probe/`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

Inspect a source URL and list its video, audio, and data tracks before creating a stream. Note the trailing slash in the path.

## Request body

- GetProbeStreamIn
  - `url` string, required: Source stream URL to probe, e.g. `srt://example.com:9000`.
  - `passphrase` string, nullable: Optional passphrase for authenticated streams (commonly used with SRT).
  - `stream_id` string, nullable: Optional SRT `streamid` the source requires. This is not the Camb.ai stream ID.

## Response `200`

Tracks discovered in the source.

- GetProbeStreamOut
  - `video_streams` VideoStream[]: Video tracks discovered in the source stream.
    - `index` integer: Track index within the source.
    - `codec_name` string: Video codec, e.g. `h264`.
    - `width` integer, nullable
    - `height` integer, nullable
    - `frame_rate` string, nullable: Frame rate as a fraction, e.g. `25/1`.
    - `id` string, nullable: MPEG-TS PID of the track (hex string), when the source is MPEG-TS. Usable in selectors like `i:301`.
  - `audio_streams` AudioStream[]: Audio tracks discovered in the source stream.
    - `index` integer: Track index within the source.
    - `codec_name` string: Audio codec, e.g. `aac`.
    - `sample_rate` integer: Sample rate in Hz, e.g. `48000`.
    - `channels` integer: Number of audio channels.
    - `channel_layout` string, nullable: Channel layout, e.g. `stereo`.
    - `tags` object, nullable: Track metadata from the source, e.g. `{"language": "eng"}`. Useful for picking the right track.
    - `id` string, nullable: MPEG-TS PID of the track (hex string), when the source is MPEG-TS. Usable in selectors like `i:301`.
  - `data_streams` DataStream[]: Data tracks discovered in the source stream (e.g., SCTE-35 ad markers).
    - `index` integer: Track index within the source.
    - `codec_name` string, nullable: Data codec, e.g. `scte_35`.
    - `id` string, nullable: MPEG-TS PID of the track (hex string), when the source is MPEG-TS. Usable in selectors like `i:301`.
