# POST /api/patient

`POST /api/patient`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://forecaster.cairhealth.com`
- URL: `https://forecaster.cairhealth.com/api/patient`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Creates a patient. `id`, `first_name`, and `last_name` are required; all other fields are optional.

## Request body

- PatientCrudRequest: Patient demographics. `id` is the external patient id, keyed by the Cair customer-patient-id naming system (https://fhir.cairhealth.com/fhir/identifier/customer-patient-id)
  - `id` string, required: External patient id
  - `first_name` string, required: Patient's first name
  - `last_name` string, required: Patient's last name
  - `name` string, nullable: Patient's full name
  - `gender` 'male' | 'female' | 'other' | 'unknown', nullable: Patient gender
  - `dob` string, nullable: Date of birth, yyyy-MM-dd
  - `email` string, nullable: Patient email address
  - `phone_number` string, nullable: Patient phone number
  - `address` object: Patient address
    - `city` string, nullable: City
    - `country` string, nullable: Country
    - `line1` string, nullable: Address line 1
    - `line2` string, nullable: Address line 2
    - `state` string, nullable: State
    - `zip` string, nullable: Postal code
  - `preferredContactMethod` string[], nullable: Preferred contact methods. Each value is one of text, email, or call. On update, an empty array clears the preference; omitting the field leaves it unchanged.

- `400`: Invalid request body or validation error
