# Request a password reset

`POST /v1/accounts/request-reset`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.cadencercs.com`
- URL: `https://api.cadencercs.com/v1/accounts/request-reset`
- Auth: none required

Always answers the same way whether or not the account exists — it must not be an account-existence oracle.

## Request body

## Response `200`

Generic acknowledgement, sent either way.

  - `ok` boolean, required
  - `message` string, required
  - `emailConfigured` boolean
  - `link` string: Only when no mailer is configured.

## Other responses

- `429`: Rate limited, so reset links can't be used to spam an inbox.
- `500`: Unexpected server error. The body is always JSON.
