# "I am not going to have this"

`POST /portal/{slug}/items/{key}/waiver`

## Request

The client states an item is never coming, with a reason. This is a proposal, not a decision: the item stays `pending` and only the owner can close it — otherwise a client could finish an intake by waiving everything in it. The item does stop being chased immediately, because reminding someone about a thing they have just said they do not have is the behaviour this product exists to replace. Allowed only on an item that is `pending` or `needs_revision`.

## Other responses

- `401`: No valid portal session
- `409`: Item is already submitted, approved or waived
- `422`: Validation error — the body shape is correct but values are invalid
