# Create ingest key

`POST /v1/ingest_key`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.braintrust.dev`
- URL: `https://api.braintrust.dev/v1/ingest_key`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - none

Create a publishable key for one existing project. Requires project create_acls permission. Ingest keys do not expire and remain valid until revoked. The configuration URL is returned on creation and can be retrieved again by listing the project's ingest keys.

## Response `200`

The ingest key, including its HTTPS configuration URL.

  - `id` string, uuid, required: Unique identifier for the ingest key
  - `created` string, date-time, nullable: Date of ingest key creation
  - `name` string, required: Name of the ingest key
  - `org_id` string, uuid, required
  - `project_id` string, uuid, required
  - `preview_name` string, required
  - `url` string, required

## Other responses

- `400`: The request was unacceptable, often due to missing a required parameter
- `401`: No valid API key provided
- `403`: The API key doesn’t have permissions to perform the request
- `429`: Too many requests hit the API too quickly. We recommend an exponential backoff of your requests
- `500`: Something went wrong on Braintrust's end. (These are rare.)
