# Pause an automation

`PATCH /api/v1/automations/{id}`

Stop a live automation: the safe direction, always available to an agent.

`{ enabled: true }` is rejected with `activation_requires_dashboard`. Activation runs readiness and priority-conflict checks under human eyes.
