# Transcribe audio to text

`POST /api/v1/ai/transcribe`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://core.blink.new`
- URL: `https://core.blink.new/api/v1/ai/transcribe`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer

Transcribe audio to text using fal.ai Whisper. Provide either a public URL (`audio_url`) or base64-encoded bytes (`audio_data`). Billed per second of audio under `ai:transcribe`.

## Request body

- object
  - `audio_url` string, uri: Public HTTP/HTTPS URL of the audio file to transcribe
  - `audio_data` string: Base64-encoded audio bytes (for local files that cannot be publicly hosted). Mutually exclusive with `audio_url` — only one is required.
  - `audio_mime` string: MIME type hint for `audio_data` (e.g. `audio/mp3`, `audio/wav`)
  - `model` string: Transcription model to use (defaults to `fal-ai/whisper`)
  - `language` string: ISO 639-1 language code hint (auto-detected when omitted)
  - `prompt` string: Optional context prompt to improve transcription accuracy

Audio transcribed successfully

  - `duration` number: Audio duration in seconds
  - `segments` object[]: Time-stamped segments of the transcription

    - `start` number: Segment start time in seconds

    - `text` string: Transcribed text for this segment
    - `speaker` string: Speaker identifier (when diarization is available)
  - `usage` object
    - `creditsCharged` number
    - `costUSD` number

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing audio input or invalid `audio_url` scheme
- `401`: Authentication required or invalid API key
- `500`: Transcription service not configured
