# Create a new record

`POST /api/records/`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://docs.blindinsight.io` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://docs.blindinsight.io/api/records/`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in cookie `sessionid`
  - HTTP basic
  - HTTP bearer
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/blindinsight/apis/blind-insight-rest-api/docs/api/records/post.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

Create a new record with an already encrypted payload. This is the non-porcelain
endpoint. If you want to create a new record with plaintext data, use the
`record create` porcelain command or the `records ingest` command with a proxy.

The response will be the newly created record object.

**On the command line:**

blind records create --data encrypted-record.json
```

## Request body

- IndexedRecord: Serializer for creating a Record and creating the schema index values together.
  - `id` string, required
  - `url` string, uri, required
  - `schema` string, uri, required
  - `hashed_label_map` object, required
  - `data` object: The data that this record represents.

## Response `201`
