# Get coin metadata

`GET /api/v1/coins/{coinId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.bitcompare.net`

- Auth: one of:
  - none
  - HTTP bearer

Full metadata for a coin: description, links, categories, market data, developer stats.

## Path parameters

- `coinId` string, required: Canonical coin id or slug (e.g. "bitcoin")

## Response `200`

Successful response

- object
  - `id` string, required: Canonical coin ID (e.g. `bitcoin`)
  - `symbol` string, required: Trading symbol (e.g. `btc`)
  - `name` string, required: Human-readable name (e.g. `Bitcoin`)
  - `marketCap` number: Market cap in USD
  - `rank` integer: Market cap rank (1 = largest)
  - `price` number: Current spot price in USD

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `429`: Plan rate limit exceeded — see X-RateLimit-* headers and Retry-After
