# Get a data lake

`GET /api/v1/data-lakes/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://your-deployment.example.com`
- URL: `https://your-deployment.example.com/api/v1/data-lakes/{id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `x-api-key`

Returns one data lake by id or slug. Every caller - owner and editor included - receives the same reader projection; management settings are not part of the public shape. `file_count` and `total_size_bytes` for a built-in lake are computed live.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Response `200`

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials.
- `403`: The API key holds none of `datalake:read`, `datalake:write` or `datalake:query`, or Data Lakes are disabled on this deployment.
- `404`: No lake with that id or slug is visible to the caller. A lake that exists but is not yours to read is reported as 404 too, so lake ids cannot be probed through this endpoint.
- `405`: The path does not serve this HTTP method.
- `422`: Request failed validation.
- `429`: Per-user rate limit exceeded.
