# Get an artifact version

`GET /api/v1/artifacts/{id}/versions/{version}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://your-deployment.example.com`
- URL: `https://your-deployment.example.com/api/v1/artifacts/{id}/versions/{version}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `x-api-key`

Returns one version of an artifact you can read, with its content.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required
- `version` string, required: A version number, starting at 1.

## Response `200`

The version and its content.

- GetArtifactVersionResponse200
  - `version` integer, required
  - `version_tag` string, nullable, required
  - `change_description` string, nullable, required
  - `created_at` string, required: ISO 8601 timestamp.
  - `content` string, nullable, required: This version's content. `null` in a list; fetch the version for it.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials.
- `403`: The API key holds neither `notebooks:read` nor `notebooks:write`.
- `404`: No artifact with that id is visible to the caller. An artifact that does not exist, a deleted one and one you cannot read are all reported as 404, so artifact ids cannot be probed through this endpoint. A version that does not exist, or one that is not a positive integer, is also 404.
- `405`: The path does not serve this HTTP method.
- `422`: Request failed validation.
- `429`: Per-user rate limit exceeded.
