# Enrich a lead profile

`POST /enrich_profile/lead`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.bettercontact.rocks/api/v2`

- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Look up a single person and get their profile plus their current company. This endpoint is **synchronous**: the profile comes back in the same response, there is no `request_id` to poll.

**Cost: 0.1 credit per profile found.** Nothing is charged when no profile matches.

It returns profile data only. It does **not** return an email address or a phone number: for that, use [Enrich leads](/api-reference/endpoint/create).

Authentication accepts either the `X-API-Key` header like every other endpoint, or an `api_key` attribute in the request body.

## Request body

- EnrichLeadRequest: Identify the lead in one of two ways: - **By LinkedIn URL**: send `linkedin_url` alone. This is the most reliable form. - **By name and company**: send `first_name`, `last_name` and `company_domain`. `linkedin_url` takes precedence: when it is present the other attributes are ignored.
  - `linkedin_url` string: Public LinkedIn profile URL of the contact. Sufficient on its own.
  - `first_name` string: First name. Required when you do not send `linkedin_url`.
  - `last_name` string: Last name. Required when you do not send `linkedin_url`.
  - `company_domain` string: Company domain. Required when you do not send `linkedin_url`.
  - `company` string: Company name. Complements `company_domain`, it cannot replace it.
  - `api_key` string: Your API key. Only needed if you do not send the `X-API-Key` header.

    - `contact_first_name` string, nullable: First name.
    - `contact_last_name` string, nullable: Last name.
    - `contact_full_name` string, nullable: First and last name concatenated.
    - `contact_job_title` string, nullable: Current job title.
    - `contact_seniority` string, nullable: Seniority level.
    - `contact_industry` string, nullable: Industry of the contact.
    - `contact_linkedin_headline` string, nullable: LinkedIn headline. Often an empty string rather than null.
    - `contact_linkedin_profile_url` string, nullable: Public LinkedIn profile URL.
    - `contact_location_continent` string, nullable: Continent.
    - `contact_location_country` string, nullable: Country.
    - `contact_location_state` string, nullable: State or region.
    - `contact_location_city` string, nullable: City.
    - `company_name` string, nullable: Company name.
    - `company_domain` string, nullable: Company domain.
    - `company_description` string, nullable: Company description.
    - `company_linkedin_url` string, nullable: Company LinkedIn page URL.
    - `company_industry` string, nullable: Company industry.
    - `company_type` string, nullable: Company type.
    - `company_founded_year` integer, nullable: Year the company was founded.
    - `company_employees_range_start` integer, nullable: Lower bound of the headcount range.
    - `company_employees_range_end` integer, nullable: Upper bound of the headcount range. `null` on open ended ranges such as `10001+`.
    - `company_headquarters_city` string, nullable: Headquarters city. Can carry a full street address rather than a bare city name.
    - `company_headquarters_country` string, nullable: Headquarters country.
    - `company_keywords` string[]: Keywords associated with the company.

## Other responses

- `400`: No request body was sent.
- `401`: Unauthorized. The API key is missing, invalid or deactivated.
- `402`: Not enough credits to run the lookup.
- `404`: No profile matched. Nothing is charged.
- `422`: Neither `linkedin_url` nor the `first_name` + `last_name` + `company_domain` combination was provided.
