# Get FileVersion by ID

`GET /api/v3/file/{file_id}/versions/{file_version_id}`

Get a single FileVersion by ID.

## Path parameters

- `file_id` string, required
- `file_version_id` string, required

## Response `200`

OK

- FileVersion: A FileVersion is an immutable published version in a File's history. Each update that changes a File's content publishes a new FileVersion with the next versionNumber, and the File's currentVersionId points at the latest one. The version's content is the ScratchFile it references, which is never modified after publishing. FileVersions are listed and read through their File.

  - `parentVersionId` string, nullable: ID of the version that was current when this version was published, or null for a File's first version.

  - `versionNumber` integer: Position of the version in the File's history, starting at 1.
