# Generate an insight

`POST /api/public/organizations/{orgId}/insights`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://charts.basedash.com`
- URL: `https://charts.basedash.com/api/public/organizations/{orgId}/insights`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Queues generation of a new insight for an organization. Requires admin access to the organization. Generation runs asynchronously.

## Path parameters

- `orgId` string, required: Organization ID

## Response `202`

Insight generation queued

- GenerateInsightDataResponse
  - `data` GenerateInsightResponse, required
    - `insightId` string, nullable, required: Deterministic insight ID for the generated job
    - `alreadyGenerating` boolean, required: Whether an insight generation job is already queued

## Other responses

- `401`: Unauthorized - Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: Forbidden - Insights are disabled
- `404`: Not found - Organization not found or no admin access
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded - Too many requests
- `500`: Internal server error
