# Start an automation run

`POST /api/public/organizations/{orgId}/automations/{id}/runs`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://charts.basedash.com`
- URL: `https://charts.basedash.com/api/public/organizations/{orgId}/automations/{id}/runs`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Starts a manual run for a scheduled or manual automation. Requires admin access to the organization. Run generation happens asynchronously.

- `id` string, required: Automation ID

    - `status` 'GENERATING' | 'FINISHED' | 'null', nullable, required: Run status
    - `isManualRun` boolean, required: Whether the run was manually triggered
    - `memberId` string, nullable, required: Member ID associated with the run
    - `createdAt` string, date-time, required: Creation timestamp
    - `updatedAt` string, date-time, required: Last update timestamp

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request - Automation cannot be manually started
- `401`: Unauthorized - Missing or invalid API key
- `404`: Not found - Automation not found or no admin access
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded - Too many requests
- `500`: Internal server error
