# Retrieve File

`GET /files/{fileId}`

Returns information about a specific file.

## Path parameters

- `fileId` string, required

## Response `200`

OK

- RetrieveFileOut
  - `filename` string, required — The name of the uploaded file.
  - `deleted` boolean, required
  - `purpose` 'fine-tune' | 'batch', required
  - `bytes` integer, required — The size of the file, in bytes.
  - `created_at` integer, required — The UNIX timestamp (in seconds) of the event.
  - `id` string, uuid, required — The unique identifier of the file.
  - `source` 'upload' | 'repository' | 'mistral', required
  - `sample_type` 'pretrain' | 'instruct' | 'batch_request' | 'batch_result' | 'batch_error', required
  - `num_lines` integer, nullable
  - `object` string, required — The object type, which is always "file".
