# Add an option to a select/multiselect/checkbox attribute

`POST /catalog/attributes/{attributeId}/options`

## Request

Creates a new option for the given attribute. Only allowed when the attribute type is `select`, `multiselect`, or `checkbox`.

  - `sort_order` integer
  - `swatch_value` string, nullable
  - `swatch_alt` string, nullable
  - `swatch_file_name` string, nullable
  - `locale` string
  - `translations` object

## Response `201`

Option created. Returns the full attribute detail.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid input
- `422`: Attribute type does not support options.
