# POST /dataAssets

`POST /dataAssets`

## Request

- Base URL: `{endpoint}/datagovernance/catalog`
- URL: `{endpoint}/datagovernance/catalog/dataAssets`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Implicit: `https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/authorize`
  - Scopes: `https://purview.azure.net/.default`

Creates a new data asset. Rate limit: 500 requests per 20-second window.

- DataAssetRequest: DataAsset.
  - `source` CatalogModelDataAssetSourceRequest: Source information for data assets request.
    - `assetId` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
  - `contacts` ContactsMap: A dictionary of contact lists keyed by contact type (e.g., 'Owner', 'Expert').
    - `owner` CatalogModelContactsValueInner[]: List of owner contacts.
      - `id` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
      - `description` string: A description of this user assignment
    - `expert` CatalogModelContactsValueInner[]: List of expert contacts.
      - `id` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
      - `description` string: A description of this user assignment
    - `databaseAdmin` CatalogModelContactsValueInner[]: List of database administrator contacts.
      - `id` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
      - `description` string: A description of this user assignment
  - `openInUrl` string, uri: A redirection link.

## Response `201`

The request has succeeded and a new resource has been created as a result.

  - `name` string, required: Name of the data asset.
  - `systemData` DataAssetSystemData: System metadata with expiration information for data assets.
    - `provisioningState` 'Unknown' | 'Succeeded' | 'SoftDeleted': The provisioning state of a data asset.
    - `createdAt` string, date-time: The timestamp when the record was created.
    - `createdBy` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
    - `lastModifiedAt` string, date-time: The timestamp when the record was last modified.
    - `lastModifiedBy` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
    - `expiredAt` string, date-time: The timestamp when the record expires.
    - `expiredBy` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
  - `description` string: A description about the relationship.
  - `source` CatalogModelDataAssetSource: Source information for data assets.
    - `type` string: The type of the data asset source.
    - `assetId` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
    - `assetType` string: Data map asset type. Example: adls_gen2_path, azure_sql_table, etc.
    - `assetAttributes` string[]: Type properties of the asset.
    - `fqn` string: Fully qualified name of the data asset.
    - `accountName` string: The data map account name of the data asset.
    - `lastRefreshedAt` string, date-time: Date of the last sync time.
    - `lastRefreshedBy` string: ID of the user who last refreshed the asset.
  - `contacts` ContactsMap: A dictionary of contact lists keyed by contact type (e.g., 'Owner', 'Expert').
    - `owner` CatalogModelContactsValueInner[]: List of owner contacts.
      - `id` string, uuid: Universally Unique Identifier
      - `description` string: A description of this user assignment
    - `expert` CatalogModelContactsValueInner[]: List of expert contacts.

    - `classifications` string[]: A list of classification labels. example: [PII, PHI]
    - `type` string: Type of the asset.
  - `openInUrl` string, uri: A redirection link.
