# PUT /datasets/{dataset_id}/mapfields

`PUT /datasets/{dataset_id}/mapfields`

## Request

Replaces the list of map fields in a dataset. Fields you leave out of the list stop being map fields. Not supported for metrics datasets.

- `dataset_id` string, required

## Request body

- string[]: A list of map field names

## Response `200`

Map field names after the update.

- string[]: A list of map field names

## Other responses

- `400`: Empty, invalid, or duplicate field name, or a metrics dataset.
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Not found
