# DELETE /datasets/{dataset_id}/mapfields/{map_field_name}

`DELETE /datasets/{dataset_id}/mapfields/{map_field_name}`

Removes a field from the map fields of a dataset. The field itself and its ingested data aren't deleted. Not supported for metrics datasets.

## Path parameters

- `dataset_id` string, required
- `map_field_name` string, required

## Response `204`

Map field removed. No response body.

## Other responses

- `400`: The dataset is a metrics dataset.
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: The dataset doesn't exist or the field isn't a map field.
