# Use the video's opening frame as its cover image (free, no AI) and

`POST /api/v1/videos/{video_id}/generate-thumbnail`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.avatarfactory.io` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in cookie `session`
  - HTTP bearer

persist it as the video's thumbnail.

OK

- GenerateThumbnailResponse: Response for `POST /api/v1/videos/:id/generate-thumbnail`. Returns the stored `faces/<filename>` key of the freshly generated cover image.
  - `success` boolean, required
  - `thumbnail_file` string, nullable

- `422`: Unprocessable Entity
