# Mark a conversation as read

`POST /conversations/{id}/read`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.automessage.app/v1`
- URL: `https://api.automessage.app/v1/conversations/{id}/read`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-KEY`

Marks every unread received message in the thread as read and recounts `unreadCount`. Returns `{ conversationId, markedRead, unreadCount, macSync }`. `macSync` is "requested" only when the user switched on "Mark read on Mac" — the Mac then opens the thread in Messages.app in the background so the read receipt is sent over iMessage (best effort, 1:1 threads; the outcome is written to the conversation as `markReadResult`). 404 when the thread is not yours; read-only keys get 403.

Marked read.
