# ENS resolve ($0.002 USDC). Use when a user gives you an ENS name (like vitalik.eth) and you need the address, or the reverse.

## Request

Use it when someone gives you an ENS name such as vitalik.eth and you need the address to pay or check, or when you have an address and want its primary ENS name. Forward lookups also return the address's primary name so you can confirm it points back. Uses the ENS Universal Resolver on Ethereum mainnet, offchain (CCIP-Read) names included. Pass name or address. Never charged for errors: we settle the payment only after a successful answer.

## Query parameters

- `name` string: ENS name, e.g. vitalik.eth.
- `address` string: 0x address for a reverse lookup.

## Response `200`

Success (only now is the payment settled).

- `400`: Invalid input. Free: answered before any payment.
- `402`: Payment Required. The PAYMENT-REQUIRED header carries the x402 v2 requirements (amount in USDC atomic units).
- `429`: Rate limited. Nothing charged.
