# Close an operating account

`POST /v1/simulations/accounts/{id}/close`

## Request

Closes an operating (DDA) account. The account must be drained via the drain endpoint first. This endpoint is unavailable in live production.

  - `reason` 'aml_risk_fraud' | 'client_request', required: Reason for closing the account.

## Response `200`

The account close simulation acknowledgement

- AccountSimulationResourceDto
  - `type` 'account_simulation', required: Resource type discriminator.
  - `account_id` string, uuid, required: Account whose lifecycle is being simulated.
