# Freeze an operating account

`POST /v1/simulations/accounts/{id}/freeze`

Freezes an existing operating (DDA) account. This endpoint is unavailable in live production.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required

- `Idempotency-Key` string, required

## Response `200`

The account freeze simulation acknowledgement

- AccountSimulationResourceDto
  - `type` 'account_simulation', required — Resource type discriminator.
  - `success` boolean, required — Whether the simulation submission was successful.
  - `account_id` string, uuid, required — Account whose lifecycle is being simulated.
  - `event` 'create' | 'freeze' | 'unfreeze' | 'close' | 'drain', required — Account lifecycle event submitted to the sandbox.
  - `payout_id` string, uuid, nullable, required — Payout created by a drain event. Feed to `POST /v1/simulations/payouts/{id}/send` to settle. `null` for non-drain events.
