# Name a speaker, or confirm its suggested name

`PATCH /v1/notes/{id}/speakers/{label}`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

The name is used in the transcript, the timeline and the exports, and remembered for the next notes of the same channel or podcast. Free.

  - `speakers` object[]
    - `label` string, nullable: A, B, C… as the diarizer assigned them
    - `name` string, nullable: The name in use: persistent profile, name given by the user, or inferred with high confidence
    - `nameStatus` 'confirmed' | 'suggested' | 'null', nullable: `confirmed` = given by the user; `suggested` = inferred from the content, not confirmed yet
    - `suggestedName` string, nullable: Name inferred from the content and the source metadata
    - `suggestedNameConfidence` number, nullable
    - `speechSeconds` number, nullable
    - `segmentCount` integer, nullable
    - `voiceExcluded` boolean: "Do not recognise this person" is set on this speaker or on its profile: its voice is not analysed nor matched
    - `evidence` object[]: Quotes that support the suggested name
      - `source` 'transcript' | 'metadata' | 'roster' | 'voice': `voice`: the voice sounds like one of the owner's voice profiles (only with the owner's biometric consent)
      - `segment` integer, nullable: Segment `sequence` when the source is the transcript
      - `quote` string: For `voice`, the profile name
      - `similarity` number: For `voice`: cosine similarity with the profile (0..1)

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: Your plan does not include the REST API
- `404`: No note with that id belongs to you
- `429`: Too many requests for this API key
