# Update gadget on dashboard

`PUT /rest/api/2/dashboard/{dashboardId}/gadget/{gadgetId}`

## Request

- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP basic
  - OAuth 2 (authorization code, authorization URL `https://auth.atlassian.com/authorize`, token URL `https://auth.atlassian.com/oauth/token`, scopes: `write:jira-work`)

Changes the title, position, and color of the gadget on a dashboard.

## Path parameters

- `dashboardId` integer, required
- `gadgetId` integer, required

## Request body

- DashboardGadgetUpdateRequest: The details of the gadget to update.
  - `color` string: The color of the gadget. Should be one of `blue`, `red`, `yellow`, `green`, `cyan`, `purple`, `gray`, or `white`.
  - `position` DashboardGadgetPosition: Details of a gadget position.
    - `The column position of the gadget.` integer, required
    - `The row position of the gadget.` integer, required
  - `title` string: The title of the gadget.

## Response `204`

Returned if the request is successful.

- `400`: Returned if the request is invalid.
- `401`: Returned if the authentication credentials are incorrect.
- `404`: Returned if the gadget or the dashboard is not found.
