# Add screen tab field

`POST /rest/api/3/screens/{screenId}/tabs/{tabId}/fields`

Adds a field to a screen tab.

## Path parameters

- `screenId` integer, required
- `tabId` integer, required

## Query parameters

- `skipFieldAssociation` boolean — Whether to skip associating the added field with projects linked to this screen. By default, adding a field to a screen tab also updates the field configuration of associated projects, making the field visible in issue experiences. When set to true, the field is added to the screen tab only and will not be visible in experiences such as issue view for associated projects unless the field association is updated separately.

## Request body

- AddFieldBean
  - `fieldId` string, required — The ID of the field to add.

## Response `200`

Returned if the request is successful.

- ScreenableField — A screen tab field.
  - `id` string — The ID of the screen tab field.
  - `name` string — The name of the screen tab field. Required on create and update. The maximum length is 255 characters.

## Other responses

- `400` — Returned if the request is invalid.
- `401` — Returned if the authentication credentials are incorrect or missing.
- `403` — Returned if the user does not have the necessary permission.
- `404` — Returned if the screen, screen tab, or field is not found.
