# Delete Pillars

`POST /api/v1/knowledge-base/pillars/delete`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.athenahq.ai`

- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

Permanently deletes 1-20 Knowledge Base pillars and every fact filed under them. Facts are deleted, not unfiled; there is no undo. Ids with no pillar on the website are reported in not_found_ids instead of failing the call, so retries are idempotent; ids in failed_ids are untouched and safe to retry. Requires a website-admin API key; on OAuth MCP connections the signed-in user must hold the admin role. Also available as the MCP tool `delete_pillars`.

## Request body

  - `website_id` string, uuid, required: The website whose pillars to delete.
  - `pillar_ids` string[], required: Pillars to delete. A single delete is a one-element array.

## Response `200`

Deletion report

  - `deleted_pillars` object[], required: Pillars actually deleted. A deleted pillar cannot be re-fetched, so this is the caller's record of what was destroyed.
    - `id` string, required
    - `name` string, required
    - `fact_count` integer, required: Facts hard-deleted with this pillar.
  - `not_found_ids` string[], required: Requested ids with no pillar on this website: already deleted or never existed.
  - `failed_ids` string[], required: Pillars whose delete errored. Each pillar deletes in its own transaction, so these are untouched and safe to retry.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request - Invalid parameters
- `401`: Unauthorized - Invalid or missing API key
- `403`: Forbidden - No admin access to this website, or the Knowledge Base is not enabled for the organization
