# Create a file node (before uploading)

`POST /client/files/nodes`

## Request

## Request body

  - `name` string, required
  - `parentId` string, uuid
  - `agentTag` string, uuid
  - `fileSize` integer: Size of the file about to be uploaded, in bytes. When sent, a file above the drive limit (50 MiB) is refused with 413 before any node is created.

## Other responses

- `400`: name required
- `401`: Missing, malformed, or invalid bearer token / API key, or revoked session (SESSION_REVOKED).
- `404`: parentId not found/owned.
- `413`: FILE_TOO_LARGE — fileSize above the 50 MiB drive limit; no node created.
