# Planetary hours (Hora)

`POST /v1/astro/panchanga/hora`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.asterwise.com`
- URL: `https://api.asterwise.com/v1/astro/panchanga/hora`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Calculates all 24 Hora (planetary hours) for a date and location, using unequal seasonal hours. Sunrise to sunset and sunset to next sunrise are each split into 12 equal parts. The first hora after sunrise is ruled by the sunrise-boundary Vedic vara lord; subsequent horas follow the Chaldean sequence. Response includes a convention field naming the division used.

## Request body

- PanchangaExtRequest: Base request schema for all panchanga extension endpoints.
  - `date` string, required: Date in YYYY-MM-DD format
  - `location` string, nullable: City name. Example: 'Mumbai'
  - `latitude` number, nullable: Latitude in decimal degrees, north positive. Use with longitude and timezone instead of location.
  - `longitude` number, nullable: Longitude in decimal degrees, east positive. Use with latitude and timezone instead of location.
  - `timezone` string, nullable: IANA timezone string

## Response `200`

24 planetary hours with ruling planet, start/end times, convention, and suitable activities

- ApiResponseHoraResponse
  - `success` boolean: True if the request succeeded
  - `message` string: Human-readable status message
  - `data` HoraResponse, required
    - `status` 'ok' | 'no_sunrise': ok, or no_sunrise when the place has no sunrise or sunset on that date (polar latitudes): the window fields are then null.
    - `status_detail` string, nullable: Plain-English reason when status is not ok.
    - `date` string, required: Date for which Hora is calculated (YYYY-MM-DD).
    - `convention` string, nullable: Hora division used. ``unequal_seasonal`` = 12 day + 12 night parts from real sunrise/sunset (panchanga / electional).
    - `sunrise` string, nullable: Sunrise time in HH:MM local time.
    - `sunrise_at` string, nullable: Sunrise time, ISO 8601 local time with date and UTC offset.
    - `sunrise_utc` string, nullable: Sunrise time, ISO 8601 UTC with Z.
    - `sunset` string, nullable: Sunset time in HH:MM local time.
    - `sunset_at` string, nullable: Sunset time, ISO 8601 local time with date and UTC offset.
    - `sunset_utc` string, nullable: Sunset time, ISO 8601 UTC with Z.
    - `next_sunrise` string, nullable: Next day sunrise time in HH:MM local time.
    - `next_sunrise_at` string, nullable: Next day sunrise time, ISO 8601 local time with date and UTC offset.
    - `next_sunrise_utc` string, nullable: Next day sunrise time, ISO 8601 UTC with Z.
    - `horas` HoraPeriod[], nullable: 24 planetary hours: 12 from sunrise to sunset, then 12 from sunset to next sunrise.
      - `hora` integer, required: Hora number, 1 to 24.
      - `ruling_planet` string, required: Planet ruling this hora.
      - `start` string, required: Hora start time in HH:MM local time.
      - `start_at` string, nullable: Hora start time, ISO 8601 local time with date and UTC offset.

      - `end` string, required: Hora end time in HH:MM local time.
      - `end_at` string, nullable: Hora end time, ISO 8601 local time with date and UTC offset.
      - `end_utc` string, nullable: Hora end time, ISO 8601 UTC with Z.
