Total public debt outstanding, debt held by the public and intragovernmental holdings from the US Treasury "Debt to the Penny" dataset, plus the change since the previous record. Source: U.S. Treasury Fiscal Data (public domain (US federal)). Cadence: daily; observed_at in the response is the upstream timestamp.
