# Search Open Targets

`GET /v1/sources/open-targets/search`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.assyro.com`
- URL: `https://api.assyro.com/v1/sources/open-targets/search`
- Auth: none declared

Search the Open Targets Platform, which integrates genetics, genomics, drugs and literature to link drug targets to diseases, from Assyro's copy of its latest release: find targets (genes, by symbol or name), diseases and phenotypes (EFO/MONDO terms), drugs (ChEMBL molecules with mechanism of action and highest clinical stage), and direct target-disease associations scored 0.1 or more. For the targets of a disease, search kind "association" with its disease id; for the diseases of a target, kind "association" with the target symbol; for the drugs acting on a target, kind "drug" with the target. Associations come strongest first, with their scores by evidence type (genetic association, somatic mutation, known drug, pathways, literature, expression, animal models). Call read_open_targets_record for a record in full, with a target's or disease's strongest associations.

## Query parameters

- `query` string: Words of a gene, disease or drug name, e.g. "PCSK9", "Alzheimer disease", "evolocumab".
- `kind` 'target' | 'disease' | 'drug' | 'association': Keep only targets, diseases, drugs or target-disease associations.
- `target` string: A target: an Ensembl gene id ("ENSG00000169174") or approved symbol ("PCSK9").
- `disease` string: A disease id as Open Targets writes it, e.g. "EFO_0000305" or "MONDO_0004975" (search kind "disease" to find it).
- `drug` string: A ChEMBL id, e.g. "CHEMBL1201583" (search kind "drug" to find it).
- `minScore` number: Keep associations scored at least this (0 to 1).
- `limit` integer: Records to return, default 10.
- `offset` integer: Skip this many results (for paging), default 0.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is not valid: an unknown parameter or an argument the source refuses.
- `404`: No such source or record.
- `429`: Rate limited; retry after the Retry-After header.
- `503`: The source cannot answer from Assyro's copy right now.
