THE ANISHINAABE THIRTEEN MOONS (giizisoog) — the lunar year of the Ojibwe, Odawa and Potawatomi peoples of the Great Lakes, taught on the back of a turtle: thirteen large plates on the shell for the thirteen moons, twenty-eight rim segments for the days of each (13 × 28 = 364, the teaching’s own arithmetic, asserted). Every moon is named for what the land is doing — the sap boiling, the heart berries, the wild-rice harvest of Manoominike-giizis, the freeze. THE THIRTEENTH MOON IS REAL, proven from the sky at load: a year holds ≈12.37 lunations (asserted), and counting actual full moons with the astronomy engine, 2023 carried THIRTEEN (two in August alone) while 2024 carried twelve — both asserted by live lunar search: the teaching encodes the fraction. RECENSIONS PINNED: the White Earth / Minnesota name roster served with documented Ontario variants beside it (Sap-Boiling vs Broken-Snowshoe April), never blended. Any year’s full-moon count computed live. A forty-seventh tradition opens. Pure compute and served teaching, no LLM.
