NEPAL SAMBAT — the Newar era of the Kathmandu Valley, and the only calendar era on earth founded by a DEBT JUBILEE: in 879 CE the merchant Shankhadhar Sakhwa paid off the Valley's debts, and the grateful city began counting years from his act. Official for nearly nine centuries, suppressed, revived, and declared a NATIONAL calendar of Nepal in 2007 — its New Year is MHA PUJA, the Newar rite of worshipping one's own self, on the fourth day of Tihar. GAZETTE-CLASS THE SAMARITAN WAY: the lunisolar month arithmetic (twelve amanta months Kachhalā..Kaulā, thwa/gā fortnights, analā leap-months) belongs to the Nepali patro publishers and is NOT minted — what is served is the WITNESSED NEW-YEAR TABLE (1143 = 25 Oct 2022 and 1145 = 2 Nov 2024, Kathmandu Post day-of; 1146 = 22 Oct 2025, world press; 1147 = 10 Nov 2026, announced), the ERA LAW (NS = Gregorian − 879 on every row), and THE INTERVAL LAW — the lunisolar structure PROVEN on the table itself: gaps of exactly 354 (common year), 384 (analā leap) and 739 = 354+385 across the unwitnessed 1144, asserted as a fingerprint at load. NS 1144 refused by name pending a second witness. Nepali becomes two systems. Pure compute, no LLM.
