# Send a free question to a person

`POST /api/questions`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.askingahuman.com`
- URL: `https://api.askingahuman.com/api/questions`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

## Request body

- object
  - `questionText` string, required: Personal details (emails, phone numbers...) are scrubbed before the person sees it
  - `targetExpertId` string, required
  - `callbackUrl` string, uri: POSTed when answered
  - `screenshotKey` string

## Response `201`

Sent

- object
  - `questionId` string
  - `status` 'PENDING_ANSWER'
  - `redactions` string[]: Kinds of personal details removed from your text before the person saw it (the original is never stored); empty when none

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `404`: No such person or record (also for unlisted people and people who blocked your key)
- `409`: The person doesn't take free questions
- `429`: Too many requests
