# Read history as of a time

`GET /history/as_of`

## Request

Forwards the query string to the Fly history service and returns that service's JSON. Smoke queries use series, ticker, as_of, period_interval and lookback_bars. Scope markets:read. Served only while the venue-data switch is on; until then 403 venue_data_off. Not cached. A 400 from the service is 400 invalid_request. A 403 that is not the server credential being refused is 403 invalid_request. A 404 is 404 market_not_found. A Fly 401 is 503 internal_error, because the caller's key was already accepted.

The history service's payload, passed through. JSON for the reads. Export may also be text/csv. Served only while the venue-data switch is on. Not cached.

- `400`: invalid_request: the query string is not valid, or the history service refused the query.
- `401`: Missing, malformed, unknown, revoked or expired key. Carries a WWW-Authenticate: Bearer challenge.
- `403`: insufficient_scope (no markets:read), venue_data_off (venue history is not served on the keyed API yet), or invalid_request (the history service refused the query).
- `404`: market_not_found: no history for that query.
- `429`: rate_limited (over the plan's minute limit) or quota_exceeded (over the month). Only while the limits are enforced; until then requests are counted and the headers set, and nothing is refused. error.retryAfterSeconds equals Retry-After.
- `503`: The key could not be verified, or the data could not be read, right now. Retry after the Retry-After seconds.
