# DELETE /v2/social-media/{id}

`DELETE /v2/social-media/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.arbital.xyz` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.arbital.xyz/v2/social-media/{id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

The active uploader may remove their own media, including after losing parent visibility or chat membership. The database tombstone immediately denies later byte reads; private object removal is retried separately. Repeating deletion of an owned ID returns 204. Bound slots retain exactly id, ordinal and deleted:true; deleting the last image preserves a media-only parent. Message removal advances message/chat versions without changing sequence, read cursor or unread count. Clients should refresh visible history when the chat version changes. This operation remains available when new media writes are disabled.

## Response `204`

Owned media is deleted; no response body

## Other responses

- `400`: invalid_social_media: the ID is not a canonical UUID
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
- `404`: social_media_not_found: missing media, another uploader's media or inactive account
- `503`: social_media_unavailable: durable deletion could not complete
