# Send a magic-link sign-in email

`POST /api/v1/auth/magic-link`

Send a magic link. No API key.

## Request body

- object: JSON object. email is required.
  - `email` string, required: Required. Trimmed and lowercased. Any non-empty string is accepted.
  - `next` string: Post-login path. Kept only for /app, /app/..., or /tools/p/{token}. Any other value, including a non-string, is ignored.
  - `ref` string: Campaign slug of letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores, up to 32 characters. Email-shaped values are dropped. Non-strings are ignored.
  - `template` string: Built-in template slug. Kept only for volunteer-application-form or volunteer-interest-form. Any other value is ignored.

## Response `200`

Send a magic link

## Other responses

- `400`: The body, query, or input failed validation.
- `429`: Too many requests from this network or organization.
