# Speech from text

`POST /v1/voices/speech`

## Request

Text to speech in a stock voice or your own clone; the audio (hosted 24 hours) can go into /v1/video/lipsync or /v1/avatars/videos.

**Billing:** Per second of speech · **Rate limit:** 30/min

  - `text` string, required: What to say (up to 5,000 characters). Pauses: <break time="1s"/>
  - `speed` number
  - `language` string: The text's language (our code) — detected when omitted
  - `voice_id` string, required: A voice from GET /v1/voices (a stock voice or your own clone)

- `400`: Invalid input
- `402`: Insufficient credits / project budget
