# Search free assets (images, video, GIFs, sounds, icons, 3D)

`GET /v1/stock/search`

Photos, video, animated GIFs, sound effects, music, backgrounds, icons and 3D assets you may use commercially, from open collections: the ~37,000 CC0 stock photographs Wikimedia Commons hosts from Unsplash and Pixabay (`source=wikimedia-stock`); Openverse (CC0 / public domain / CC BY images from Flickr, StockSnap, rawpixel, museums); Wikimedia Commons photos and video (CC0 / public domain / CC BY — never NonCommercial, NoDerivatives or ShareAlike) and its animated GIFs marked CC0 (`kind=gif`; GIPHY and Tenor are never used); the Smithsonian's Open Access images marked CC0 (when the server has its key); the Metropolitan Museum (CC0); our CC0 library of sound effects, music and animated bursts picked from Kenney and OpenGameArt (`kind=audio`, `kind=gif`); Poly Haven textures and panoramas as backgrounds (`kind=background`) and 3D models (all CC0); public-domain film from the Internet Archive (`kind=clip` — cartoons, silent comedy, retro adverts; curated collections and pre-1930 films only) and 200+ open-source icon sets. Every result carries its licence as one code (`license`: CC0, PDM, CC-BY…), the licence as the source states it (`license_name`) and its URL, the file at the source (`source_url`), the item page (`page_url`), whether a credit is required and the exact credit line; `license=cc0` keeps only CC0 — what APIhub itself inserts automatically. Copy a result to our storage with POST /v1/stock/save before a render; a GIF goes in as an overlay of type video (it plays once) or through POST /v1/studio/convert. Stock video and photos from Pexels and Pixabay are not listed here: under their API terms they are used only inside edits.
