# Set a block to optional.

`PUT /booking/v1/block-actions/{id}/set-to-optional`

Set a specific block which is in status 'Tentative' to 'Optional'.<br>You must have at least one of these scopes: 'blocks.manage, reservations.manage'.

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- SetBlockToOptionalModel
  - `optionalCutoff` string, required — The date (or date and time) by which a decision must be made on this optional block. A bare date is interpreted as the end of that day in the property's time zone.<br />Specify either a pure date or a date and time (without fractional second part) in UTC or with UTC offset as defined in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601">ISO8601:2004</a>
  - `isOptionalDeductingInventory` boolean, required — Whether this optional block reduces availability like a definite block
  - `optionalCutoffBehavior` 'DoNothing' | 'AutoRelease', required — What happens when the optional cutoff date is reached

## Response `204`

Setting the block to optional was successful.

## Other responses

- `400` — Bad request.
- `401` — You are unauthorized.
- `403` — Forbidden.
- `404` — The Request-URI could not be found.
- `415` — Unsupported media type.
- `422` — Validation errors in the request body or query params.
- `499` — Client closed request.
- `500` — An unexpected error occurred.
- `503` — The server is currently unavailable. Please try later.
