# Confirm one species suggestion.

`POST /recognitions/{id}/confirm`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://animalchecklist.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://animalchecklist.com/api/v1/recognitions/{id}/confirm`
- Auth: API key in cookie `ac_session`

The signed-in job owner confirms an unexpired candidate on the same origin. Repeated confirmation returns the same catalog animal. Missing species use a separately licensed CC0 or public-domain catalog photo. Uploaded photos are never stored or served.

- `lang` 'en' | 'de' | 'es' | 'fr' | 'it' | 'nl' | 'pt' | 'pl': Display language of `name`, category labels and the summary. Falls back to `en`.

Confirmed catalog animal.

    - `animal` AnimalSummary, required: Card-sized animal taxon used by list and search answers.
      - `id` string, required: Slug of the animal taxon, for example `red-fox`.
      - `name` string, required: Name in the requested language, English when none exists.
      - `nameEn` string, required: English common name.
      - `nameSci` string, required: Scientific name.
      - `taxonRank` string: Taxonomic rank. Legacy records default to species.
      - `parentNameSci` string, nullable: Parent species scientific name for a subspecies. Null for species.
      - `categoryId` 'mammals' | 'birds' | 'reptiles' | 'amphibians' | 'fish' | 'insects' | 'other', required
      - `habitats` string[], required
      - `tickable` boolean: Whether a new checklist sighting is allowed.
      - `sourceUrl` string, uri

        - `url` string, uri, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid input.
- `401`: Sign-in required.
- `403`: A same-origin request is required.
- `404`: Unknown or expired candidate.
- `409`: Candidate cannot be imported, or its licensed catalog photo is no longer available.
- `429`: Rate limited.
- `500`: Unexpected error.
