# List countries.

`GET /countries`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://animalchecklist.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://animalchecklist.com/api/v1/countries`
- Auth: none required

Answers every country that carries observations, with the number of species recorded there, most species first. Use a code as the `country` filter of `GET /animals`.

## Response `200`

Every country. Cached 1 hour.

- `400`: Invalid input.
- `404`: Not found.
- `429`: Rate limited.
