# Get a capital call — status tracks the due date only, never collection

`GET /v1/capital_calls/{capital_call_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.angellist.com`
- URL: `https://api.angellist.com/v1/capital_calls/{capital_call_id}`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Authorization code: `https://gateway.angellist.com/oauth/authorize`
  - Client credentials
  - Token URL: `https://gateway.angellist.com/oauth/token` scopes: `capital_calls:read`

Returns a single capital call by ID.

## Path parameters

- `capital_call_id` string, required

## Response `200`

The capital call.

- CapitalCall: A capital call issued by a vehicle to collect committed capital from its partners — the schedule of the ask: what was called, of whom, when, and by when. It never reports what arrived; collection standing lives on capital accounts. Workflow entity — `status` is the due-date lifecycle, computed at read time from `due_at`. Amounts are live views of the schedule that move as commitments change or late-closing partners are caught up into existing calls.
  - `amount` CurrencyAmount, required: A monetary amount in a single currency. `amount` is an integer in the currency's smallest unit (cents for USD; 100 = $1.00) — never whole dollars. `formatted` is the same value rendered in whole units for display.
    - `amount` integer, required: Signed amount in the smallest unit of the currency (cents for USD; 100 = $1.00).
    - `currency` string, required: Uppercase ISO 4217 currency code, optionally suffixed with a digit `n` for AngelList high-precision currencies, which have `n - 1` fraction digits: `9906000` in `CAD8` is CA$0.9906.
    - `formatted` string, nullable, required: The amount rendered as a human-readable string in whole currency units (e.g. `$1,000,000.00` for `amount: 100000000, currency: USD`). Authoritative for magnitude; use `amount` for arithmetic. `null` when the currency has no rendering data — the value is never guessed.
  - `created` integer, required: Time at which the capital call record was created. Measured in seconds since the Unix epoch.
  - `due_at` integer, nullable: The call's stated funding deadline — UTC midnight of the due date, and the sole input to `status`. Null when no deadline exists yet — auto-created calls (the SPV/RUV implicit 100% call, a fund's initial drawdown) get their deadline backfilled at the first close. Individual partners' effective deadlines can be later than this date.
  - `group` CapitalCallGroup: The LP group a capital call was issued to. Groups are a per-fund calling-policy feature; a group carries no public id yet, so it is identified by name within its vehicle.
    - `is_default` boolean, required: Whether this is the vehicle's default group — the one new partners join automatically when the fund uses groups.
    - `name` string, required: The group's display name, unique within its vehicle.
  - `id` string, required: Unique opaque identifier for this capital call.
  - `initiated_at` integer, required: The date the call was initiated — notices go out and the funding clock starts. Measured in seconds since the Unix epoch (UTC midnight of the initiation date).
  - `livemode` boolean, required: Whether this object exists in live mode (`true`) or test mode (`false`).
  - `object` 'capital_call', required: Object type identifier.
  - `partner_breakdown` CapitalCallPartner[], required: Per-partner breakdown of the ask — one entry per partner the call reaches, ordered by partner identity, deduped across a partner's closings. Always inline, on lists and single reads; may be empty (an SPV's implicit call before any LP signs). The `called` amounts sum to `amount`. Partners awaiting their close are omitted — the fund has not called capital from them yet.
    - `called` CurrencyAmount, required: A monetary amount in a single currency.
    - `partner` PartnerRef, required: A reference to a partner by id. The `partner_` prefix encodes the type, so no `object` field is needed. The id is the same one `/v1/partners` and capital accounts use, stable across all of the organization's vehicles. Not expandable.
      - `id` string, required: Identifier of the referenced partner.
  - `percentage_bps` integer, required: Fraction of commitment called, in integer basis points (2500 = 25%; 10000 = 100%). The GP's canonical input — dollar amounts derive from it. Rounded half-even from venture's stored 12-decimal fraction; the money fields are computed from the full-precision value, so the rounding never moves money.
  - `purpose` string, nullable: The GP-authored purpose of the call, as printed on the formal Capital Call Notice. Null when the GP left it blank (the notice then falls back to LPA boilerplate).
  - `status` 'in_progress' | 'completed', required: Due-date lifecycle, computed at read time from `due_at` alone: `completed` means the call is past its due date; it does not indicate whether the money arrived. `in_progress` means the due date has not fully passed — or no deadline exists yet (`due_at` is null). A call flips to `completed` 24 hours after `due_at` (midnight UTC after the due date), so it stays `in_progress` through the whole due day.
  - `vehicle` object, required: The vehicle that issued this capital call.
    - `id` string, required: Encoded vehicle identifier.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request was malformed or contained invalid parameters.
- `401`: Authentication required or token invalid.
- `403`: The authenticated user does not have permission to access this resource, or the vehicle's data is not available through the API. Vehicle-scoped financial-data endpoints return code `not_available` when a vehicle's data isn't served through the API yet — the API returns verified data or none, never partial data. One account can hold a mix of covered and uncovered vehicles; support for uncovered vehicles is on the roadmap and will be added in the coming months.
- `404`: Resource not found.
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded.
- `500`: An unexpected error occurred.
